FINAL DAY!

Today is my last day EVER in a class at CSU. I cant believe the year has already come to an end... It is really sad that this is my last time I will be taking a class with everyone in here :( I have really really enjoyed all of my graphic design courses I have taken this year. I'm going to miss everyone SOOO much. Professor, Thanks for everything you taught me about graphic design! Hope everyone enjoys their summer!

The Winning Designs

None of my designs won.. but I'm really glad I entered the contests. I have never done any logo contests before, so it was a really good experience. I understand what i could have done to make my designs better. My designs were too simple for some websites and too much for others. I plan on entering more logo contests in the future :)

Essay on Desktops..FINAL PROJECT.

This final project is EXTREMELY hard..its taking me forever to finish. We have to write an essay about how a desktop computer works, but we have to include graphics. The essay has to be 750-1200 words. I haven't finished this thing yet, so im hoping it will be done in time. The positive side to this is I don't know a lot about the inside of computers so I'm learning more and more.

Tutorials

This semester we worked a lot with tutorials that helped us through Microsoft Office and Adobe Illustrator. I'm pretty familiar with word but, I felt that it was VERY helpful to work with the Adobe tutorial because I was very new to it. I still have a lot to learn about these programs considering there is SO much you can do on them.

Mr Sparkle

A couple months ago we were asked to create a logo for "Mr. Sparkle's" Glass Restoration Company. This logo is one of my favorites. I traced a fairy and made him my own and hes flying in front of a "sparkly" window with his magic wand. I liked this logo because I was able to make it colorful and make it either really plain or really detailed. The man that owns the business told our professor that he liked the more simpler logos. I think my logo was cute and colorful but not too over the top.

Logo Remakes.

Last month we were asked to pick two logos and remake them. I chose In-N-out Burger and Radio Disney. My favorite logo was my In-N-Out Burger one. I changed the colors around from the original logo and used the palm trees and colors from the cups and containers they use. My Radio Disney logo is Mickey Mouse's silhouette with ipod speakers on and The font they use already saying-RADIO DISNEY. The logo reminds me of an ipod logo. I chose these two because In-N-Out is one of my FAVORITE places to eat. I chose Radio Disney for my second logo because I am a HUGE Disney fan and still listen to their station to this day!

Logo #2

The next logo contest I entered was for The Desoto Fire Rescue. They needed a good logo for their firemen's T-shirts. They asked that there was a fire maltese, there was the letter B somewhere and that we used navy blue for the logo's back round since that was going to be the color of the shirts.I made the font of "Desoto Fire Rescue" orange and yellow so that it would show up on the navy blue. I traced a fire maltese and put a silhouette of a firefighter in the middle. I put a yellow B on that silhouette so it would look like it was part on his uniform. My logo was very simple compared to the rest. For a back of a T-shirt, i think its very appropriate.

Logo Contest #1--Logo #2

I created another logo for Brookridge Health and Fitness, but this time made it more "fun" than "fancy". I used the name B monogram from the first logo, except i changed the color around and made it bright orange and yellow. I used the brush tool and made what looks like golf hills under the B. I liked this logo a lot better than my first design because its simple but its not boring.

Logo Contest #1

The first logo contest i entered was off of 99 designs. The logo was for a health and fitness club. I entered two different logos for it. The first one is more conservative and "fancy" because they said they wanted a fancy but fun logo for their business. I traced a monogram B for the main part of the logo. I tried to incorporate golf and fitness in there by using dumbbells and golf balls for the border if the logo.

SCCA Logo

Last month we were asked to design a logo for the South Carolina Correctional Association. They really needed something or some kind of logo to spruse up their website. I chose to use red white and blue to keep a US theme. I used navy blue and a Palmetto tree to represent the state of South Carolina. The SCCA logo wasn't the most exciting assignment, but it was good practice on Adobe illustrator.

AH A MONSTER!

In class we were assigned to create a cute fuzzy monster of our own. My monster took me two classes to finish. The monster I created was inspired from one of the main monsters off of the Movie Monsters inc. We used Adobe Illustrator to create them. I used three different layers/colors of brush strokes for his fluffy green fur. My favorite part of the project was picking a good shape for my monster :) Everyones monsters turned out REALLY good.. they should have been in Monsters Inc.

Basic Shapes Beach

The basic shapes assignment was sort of complicated. We had to create a picture using chosen shapes that we could not alter. We could make the shaped bigger or smaller but that was it. I decided to create a beach. The hardest part of this was making the clouds and the ocean foam. I used the same shape for both, but changed the sizes. The sea shell was made from two different shapes. The palm trees are made from one shape that was copied for the leaves/branches and one other shape for the bark. My favorite part of this project was choosing the gradients for the ocean and sky. This project took me one class to finish. I probably could have included more in my project, but i think it looks alright how it is :)

Bridge Program Logo

The lady in charge of the bridge program asked our class if we could come up with logo ideas for the Charleston Southern University Bridge Program. This logo was probably the easiest to come up with. We were asked to some how use the Arthur Ravenel bridge in our design. I wanted to use our schools letters so I traced the letters off of our CSU logo and out them on the outline I made of the bridge. The hardest part about this was trying to get the lines from the bridge lined up and even. It took me only about an hour to finish this assignment because i kept it pretty simple.

Distressed Text

In class we got to learn to to distress and distort text to make a logo. I chose do "Lucy's Antiques". It took me both classes to finally finish the logo. The hardest part for me was making the text look scratchy and picking a font that goes with the name. My favorite part was picking the colors of the back round design.

Almost Spring Break!!!!! :D

In Design today we are working on our Power Points :) The topic I chose is the History Of Hewlett Packard. I have actually learned a lot about the company. I didn't realize they have been around for a REALLY long time. They even started out working in a garage.. Its been two days and I have gotten 7 slides done and have 4 more to go. I would have probably gotten more done, but i had to get my tires on my car rotated and i was late to class :/. Good news is we have ALL of spring break to work on it! Luckily this project is on powerpoint and I understand powerpoint ALOT better than illustrator. Well now I better get back to work.....

Have a GREAT Spring Break :) :) :)

We are in a new semester at CSU and so far so good. Right now I am in Art 218 which is "Technology for Graphic Design". It's a BRAND NEW class here at CSU! I really have no idea what to write right now on this thing..Today in class we are writing on our blogs.. We have been learning how to use our new beauutiful Macs. I am very very very happy for this new semester. We are going to be learning how to use Adobe Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Photoshop and some other neat programs. I really haven't used any of those before other than photoshop..so I'm pretty stoked to get to work with and learn how to use these programs.
